PRACTITIONER TRAINING
back to for practitioners
The faculty of Hearth Science teach a variety of live (Zoom-based) and face-to-face instructional sessions (see our Autonomics Tour) in autonomic physiology. Teaching on Zoom allows us to conduct live classes and seminars and reach a global audience: we have colleagues in fifty countries. We teach face to face-to-face in Northern California, where we are headquartered, and the Autonomics Tour allows us to teach internationally (We are in Europe June of 2025, Hawaii August of 2025, Asia likely summer of 2026).
Live courses span a range from brief 90-minute or 3-hour introductions to semester-long graduate courses in a range of foundational and specialized topics, to a 2-year clinical training program with extensive pre-requisites leading to certification. Our long-form courses require an application and interview. We are discerning about whom we train.
Our learning community is multi-dimensionally diverse by design (gender, ethnicity, sexuality, etc.) and highly trans-disciplinary. We train practitioners across a broad range of the healing arts and life and executive coaching spaces.
Our courses are distinguished by
density of diversity of practitioners
explicit attention to the creation of culture
spaces that attend deeply to providing a felt sense of safety
academic rigor while
experientially-focused
the site of learning is your own embodied experience
In this work, your own body, interiority, and felt sense of relating are the primary ways of knowing. While many practitioners have attended graduate or doctoral programs or other coursework that was primarily cognitive, aimed at academic and intellectual understanding, we regard your embodied transformation as the primary site of learning. This represents an epistemological difference from most programs, in that our emphasis is on learning to help you track, both inwardly and in relationship to clients, the dynamic autonomic flux of the body, and how to help it organize in the direction of safety and connection, while healing and transforming distress states. We teach non-invasive deep embodied neurological transformation with an emphasis on creating the contexts for salugenesis (health creation).
For this reason, our coursework tends to advance from more academic and pedagogical foundations into what is essentially a guild or apprenticeship model, where you will be learning from our deeply experienced clinical team of expert autonomic trackers. (See our faculty here).
Our interest is in helping you land this content and material deeply and viscerally in your own experience. Because of the experiential nature of this work, it has its own timelines. If you engage it deeply and rigorously it will begin to re-organize your experience of yourself. This reorganization takes time. We have colleagues, therefore, who have been training with us well over a decade.
Here’s a brief outline of a recommended learning pathway.
